As the principal product designer, I worked closely with developers, community growth leads, and our users to create an intuitive and reliable app that was legible to people unfamiliar with cryptocurrency. The challenge was to ensure it could integrate seamlessly into the community, facilitating easy exchange of Circles tokens for local goods and services. Scaling in functionalities such as a decentralized identity system, a social feed, and a built-in marketplace, Circles' product strategy adapted as the project grew to be accepted by local sellers and businesses.
User Experience Design
The UX design for Circles was organized based on user archetypes and personas based on our target audiences. I facilitated design sessions with the full team to craft detailed user stories, and presented maps of the information architecture and user flows. We began user testing early on, first testing wireframes internally, then iterating on low-fidelity prototypes with testers.
Results
Circles launched and went viral with 100k people onboarded within a few days
The project was presented at conferences around the world, and has been showcased in economic journals due to it's unique design.
